Boston Celtics big man Tacko Fall, was signing autographs and doing Q&A’s with fans, while at the Basketball Hall of Fame’s 60 Days of Summer Program. Fall, expressed how he wants to be with a team that “believes” in him. If the Celtics are in fact that team, I think it’s a great situation to be in for both sides.
The buzz around Tacko Fall didn’t stop after summer league in Las Vegas. The attention is coming from all across the league and their fan bases, not just from Celtics Nation. The Celtics big man was signing autographs and answering questions, while at the Basketball Hall of Fame for an event earlier this week. Fall said afterwards:
“This was definitely one of the longest autograph lines.”
I think it’s incredible that all of this production is for a player who hasn’t made the Celtics roster yet (officially). Fall was given an Exhibit-10 contract by the Celtics. The contract must have been reassuring for the center, as he went undrafted in this year’s draft.
All an Exhibit-10 contract does, is brings a player to training camp, but on a minimum deal. In this case, if the Celtics defer Fall’s Exhibit-10, the Maine Red Claws can offer Fall a $50,000 contract.
A two-way contract could be given to the big man, making him eligible to suit up for the Celtics. Let’s not forget about the open roster spot the Celtics currently have available. It will be interesting to see how this one plays out for the Celtics.
Fall also had this to say about his NBA journey, thus far:
“They’re very excited to have me, and they believe in me. That’s something I wanted. I wanted to be in an environment where I feel like people want me there and believe in me. I feel like the organization believes in me. It’s a great vibe going on, great players, so I’m really excited and looking forward to the future.”
I think Tacko genuinely loves the Celtics organization, and grew a connection with his fellow rookie teammates. Comradery within a team is very important in professional sports; it can make or break a team.
