There are a handful of Celtics playing in the FIBA World Cup Tournament this summer.  Team USA wrapped up a game today against Czech Republic this morning.

Team USA finished up a game today against the Czech Republic at the FIBA World Cup.  As a team, the Americans shot great en route to securing an 88-67 victory.  Boston Celtics teammates Kemba Walker and Jayson Tatum set the tone for the team early on in the game, as the two combined for 20 points in the first half.

Kemba Walker has played exceptionally well during the FIBA World Cup.  In today’s game, Walker shot the ball 75% from the field, totaling 13 points, 4 assists and a steal.  Walker showed to be very intense on defense throughout the game.

Jayson Tatum started off hot for team USA.  Connecting on his first two 3-point shot attempts, Tatum finished the game with 10 points.  Tatum faced foul trouble throughout the course of the third quarter, which kept him out most of the second half.  The Boston Celtics young star looks to be more confident heading into his third NBA season.

Marcus Smart was one of only two players to play more than 20 minutes against the Czech Republic.  Of course, Smart’s defensive effort was super high, something Coach Popovich wants more of throughout this tournament.  Marcus also performed a step back shot, which isn’t something he does too often.  Smart recorded 4 points in the game.

Jaylen Brown had himself a pretty quiet game today.  Brown finished up by going 1 of 2 from the field, along with 3 rebounds.

It’s great to see members of the Boston Celtics represent their country during the summer.  Let’s not forget about Daniel Theis (Germany) and Vincent Poirier (France) are also representing their country this summer, and doing a very great job of it.

The Boston Celtics must be looking forward to getting their guys back home and getting to work on the 2019 NBA season.  The upcoming season looks to be very bright for the Celtics, as they’re core players are already getting off to a hot start for Team USA.
