Boston Celtics rookie Tacko Fall, has been wanting to workout with two people since entering the NBA. All Star Joel Embiid, and Celtics legend, Kevin Garnett, are who Tacko wants to learn from. Fall finally had the opportunity to meet up with Embiid for a quick workout while the two big men were in Senegal for a basketball program.
It was reported that Celtics rookie Tacko Fall, wants to workout with Philadelphia 76er’s star, Joel Embiid. Fall a native on Senegal, and Embiid a native of Cameroon, have similar qualities on the court, despite the difference in height.
Embiid has showcased himself to be one of the most talented big men in today’s game. Fall admires, envy’s, and relates to Embiid’s style of play. Thinking he can learn from the success Embiid has had in the NBA, the two powerhouses were able to work-out together in Senegal.
Pure Sweat trainer Drew Hanlen was excited about the two seven-footers getting in some work together. Since Embiid has been in the NBA, we have seen the big man do things that are not typical of an NBA 7-foot center. Hanlen, per Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe, had this to say about it:
“I’ll throw him up against Joel a little bit and he’ll get to work out some with Joel, which will be a really good experience for him.”
Embiid is dominant in the paint and under the basket, he can shoot from anywhere on the floor, and has a pretty looking three point shot. He has shown that he can do it all, and is a leader on the 76er’s team. Fall, though in a different position than Embiid, has a great opportunity to become a dominant player in the NBA.
Even though Celtics fans cannot stand to tolerate the 76er’s, this should be exciting to them. Embiid is arguably one of the best big men in the NBA today. Tacko Fall getting the opportunity to play with and learn from Embiid is equivalent to a paid apprenticeship.
Another person Fall is eager to meet is Celtics legend, Kevin Garnett. Garnett, now a teacher of the game, had a lot of exposure to the NBA, especially at a young age. Now, mentoring young players, maybe Fall becomes the next player for KG to put under his wing.
Fall absorbing everything he learned like a sponge, is feeling more confident heading into the season.
