This new episode of The Celtics Center covers a broad range of topics. Adam is joined by Zach Setliff who has been a fan of the podcast for a while and wanted to get his views across.
We here at The Celtics Center have been on a little break over the last week, figuring out our content schedule in preparation for the new season ahead. With that, all sorted it was time to get an episode in the books covering everything that has transpired over the last few days.
Here we discuss everything that happened during the preseason games on this episode of The Celtics Center, how fans were unable to get a good feel for what the team’s interior defense is going to be like against bigger centers. During these games players like Vucevic and Thompson did not participate, this provided a skewed perception of how this team will perform defensively over the course of this season. Obviously there were some good takeaways too – which were not all covered but will be in due course.
The main talking point this week has been Jaylen Brown rejecting the contract extension offer of roughly $80 million dollars, instead, he prefers to bet on himself to ball out this year and earn a bigger contract next summer. What happens if other teams start to test the Celtics resolve to keep him? are the Spurs a legitimate threat to make a play? is he worth more than the offer the Celtics made to him? Next up was Carsen Edwards, he has flat out balled this preseason, showing a resolve when having bad quarters and providing a scoring spark off the bench. There have been specific plays Edwards has made which has convinced Adam that Wanamakers time as the second-string point guard will be short-lived – which sucks for Wanamaker but hey, that the game right?
Tacko Fall went from being an undrafted rookie to earning an Exhibit 10 contract and then earning a two-way deal, he has had to fight for everything so far in his young NBA career. But what does he need to do to earn minutes when spending time with Boston? is he capable of forcing his way on to the court for purely basketball reasons? his rebounding leaves a lot to be desired for a player of his size. Herein lies the question – is he better served in the G-League this year or is he ready for the NBA now – what’re your thoughts? Tremont Waters also speaks about following his impressive displays in the Celtics Jersey. Finally, we discuss the Strus/Green conundrum – what are the Celtics going to do here?
